I'm thinking about how to approach studios and I believe my most successful piece of design in a while was my experiments with tracing paper and folds which resulted in really nice envelope type structures. I could work this into a way of approaching a studio. I want to avoid email at all costs.
Raw Studio in Salford, Manchester
Mentioned to me by Elliot and I love their work and their office! They also have an invitation for submissions for placements so that's encouraging!
Duke Studios, Leeds
All of my concepts of late have revolved around getting away from digital design and too much screen time. Duke make things, laser cut things and generally do good stuff for local businesses. I'd like to do some more hands on, physical making.
Studio Makgill, Brighton
I've always admired Makgill. Very clean sharp design with extreme attention to detail spent on the materials. They work for big clients (GF Smith) and smaller but still stylish names (Wiper & True Beer).
To be continued...
