I've got the bug! I can't stop editing my site, it's good fun and a process of trial and error.
The main change is the addition of a bold fullscreen homepage. I remembered reading somewhere that a prospective client gives a homepage about 5 seconds before deciding wether to enter or not, so this full page spread of my favourite spread from the book is what I believe to be a really strong opening visual hit.
Click on 'work' and you're taken through to the next part of the site.
Below you can see the addition of a handwritten logo, which I've wanted from the start. I like my handwriting and I've always felt a person shouldn't be branded as if a brand - handwriting just felt right.
I've also made the decision at this point to simply label myself as a designer. I wouldn't turn any jobs down and i'm willing to try my hand at designing pretty much anything!
Below is my revised about page. I once saw a webpage from the band Arcade Fire with a handwritten note to fans filling the whole page.
I love the aesthetic and concept of taking an age old form of communication - pen to paper - and turning it into a flat intangible collection of on screen digital pixels.
I wrote in third person with a slightly dry tone. It reads as a tiny bit naive but... I am.
