We had a fantastic meeting today - outside of Uni (a change of scenery was good).
We gave eachother the homework task to come up with a few relevent names and also a selection of studios which embodied a similar ethos to what we want our studio to embody.
I brought to the table Fivethousandfingers (previously blogged about), who are only a duo but who's output and direction is very clear in its' continued intention.
Elliot mentioned a really nice Manchester based studio named Raw who's beautiful office space - as well as consistently good digital work stood out.
Alec put forward Graphical House, a 'design consultancy' in Glasgow, who seem to mix very commercial jobs - BBC - with pieces verging on fine art.

We then got thinking about names for the business. After a few meagre attempts - Clear Studio, Dot, Negative Space - we decided to return to the drawing board and come up with our usp, hoping this would then inform our name.
We decided that as a group we all prefer, or would like to focus more on physical printed matter than digital and web work.
From this came a few more suggestions until Fresh Prints got mentioned.
We all laughed but then realised it fit the brief, is memorable and is a foundation with which we can build a solid, distinguishable brand and aesthetic around. The idea then arose that in order to bring in extra cash, we could sell our prints in a kind of storefront in the studio.
For our next chat, we said to think about some initial branding and a brief try at our manifesto / what we do.
