OUGD602 / PPP3 / Blog Alongside Website

http://newhive.com/alexfinney/blog

I recently stumbled across blogging site Newhive, which enables drag and drop, design-led pasting of image, video, shapes, sounds in a much more attractive and intuitive way that sites such as wordpress or tumblr. I think this format suits my design style, a little haphazard and spontaneous.

The reason I'm using a blog is to separate scrappy, unfinished pieces of work that aren't worthy of full profiles on my website. I do produce a lot of work such as this and it seems a shame to let it all go to waste so a more informal space to post ideas and such is a positive thing for a potential employer to see.

I informally titled the page 'Bits and Pieces' to convey the laid back nature of the page and included the logo that I use on my website to link the pages. (the blog page appears as a 'blog' link on my website homepage).

A big plus is the GIF integration and Vimeo links which display videos I've been working on.

Overall, it's not a big deal, but this blog shows that my work isn't as neat as it appears on my finished projects on my site and it shows that i'm constantly making and trying new processes, which can only be a good thing! I'll treat it as an aesthetic playground where I can drop things that don't quite make it elsewhere.
