PPP 2 / Study Task 1 / Brief & First Thoughts

The first PPP session of the year brought up some important issues, namely 'branding' ourselves before we enter the competitive market after graduating.

'Brand' is quite a sterile term for an individual designer but a brand or visual identity is vital to stand out at all in such a competitive market.

We were in small groups and all talked about each other's attempts at branding for last year's PPP module. Of course we all disliked what we did - everyone feeling they'd already outgrown the aesthetic they'd set for themselves only 6 months ago.

The identity is flawed in a couple of ways. 'a p f' is far too impersonal for a 'personal' identity. The fact that I based an identity around the loose concept that I 'keep my eye on the design world' seems naive and loose in hindsight and the group picked up on this.

I'll stick to my full name Alex / Alexander Finney and perhaps avoid using a logo marque which we as the group feel are generally inappropriate for a personal identity.
