We had a crit today focusing on personal branding and strategy...
I took a few notes about my approach from this year:
Website
A few subtle changes over the year, notably reducing the amount of accompanying text on each project in order to convey the idea in a quicker, leaner way.
I also made the site into a two column with larger images. Squarespace is great for this kind of quick editing.
There was some discussion about the necessity of a website, personally I feel strongly that my site has been key in getting interviews so I'm glad I invested in it a while ago!
Blog
I also talked about my blog move from Newhive (slow and irritating) over to a tumblr which is much more successful. When it comes down to it, Newhive was slow enough to deter users from viewing my work, which is not the image I want to convey!
Business Cards
Ordered 250gsm business cards cut to shape, onto which i'll letterpress an A & an F, with a Kitching inspired split fountain of some sort.
We discussed the uses of business cards and I believe that to make my own shows my process led design first hand!
